The SARG Intelligence team supports SARG’s (Safety & Airspace Regulation Group) needs for information by proactively acquiring, analysing and visualising all data necessary to  identify and measure ongoing and, where possible, future “system-wide” safety and airspace hazards and safety risks. Our work generates the insights which allow us to decide what actions to take and enables us to track the effectiveness of actions designed to mitigate those issues.  


The Role


We are looking for a Safety Analyst to join our team where you’ll be responsible for supporting with the production of safety analysis and insights, ensuing the data is extracted, and analysed correctly. Supporting with the creation and maintenance of our intelligence data products, ensuring internal stakeholders are appropriately informed of safety hazards and risks affecting our industry, consumers and the UK public. The insight you produce will drive decision making within the CAA and externally.


Acting as a analytical voice  for the CAA’s safety intelligence and data transformation  processes you will also work alongside our subject matter experts  in the creation of a safety risk picture and provide our internal  teams with data, insights, visualisations and analytical expertise to assist in their oversight of our industry.


Core accountabilities


  • Support safety risk discussions and risk assessment to provide meaningful insight to support risk monitoring and successful safety assurance.
  • Support our internal teams and working groups through the provision of data and analysis relating to specific subjects when considering new legislation.
  • Provide safety analysis to fulfil analysis requests requested both internally and from external parties.
  • Ensure that datasets are appropriately structured and maintained so analyses and insight generation activities can be undertaken.


About You


The successful candidate will have:


  • A numerate degree (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Maths or related field), or relevant experience gained within industry.
  • Proven analytical skills/experience and be able to work with highly sensitive data to a consistently high standard. You must be curious by nature with a proactive and tenacious approach.
  • A clear and confident style, with the ability to communicate complex messages concisely.
  • Well-developed data processing and data visualisation skills with experience of using Excel (experience of power query would be a plus) and PowerBI or similar and basic knowledge of querying/programming languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Aviation and/or regulatory knowledge/experience is desirable.
