SalaryThe role will be for two days per week with a salary of £130k.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the UK’s aviation regulator and a public corporation. It is our responsibility to keep both passengers and the general public safe. The Opportunity 
The Secretary of State for Transport is looking for an exceptional leader with extensive board experience to chair the CAA Board through a period of great opportunity and change. The chair will drive delivery of our vision for air travel and safety excellence, making a difference at the highest level.  You will shape the real-world experience of the multiple stakeholders we serve.

 

The Role
Your remit as chair would be rich, dynamic. You will;

•    Drive strategic development and policy oversight, providing clear direction, robust leadership and constructive challenge 
•    Manage board members to ensure strong performance, consistent engagement and exemplary governance
•    Deliver collegiate decision-making and considered policy application
•    Lead effective stakeholder management across the UK, supporting strategic and business objectives, acting as a public spokesperson as required
•    Oversee appropriate succession planning and recruitment for the Board 


The Candidate

 

You will have:

  • Board experience within complex organisations
  • An ability to lead effectively across the breadth of the CAA’s work and reach
  • Ability to chair the board of a complex national body with a wide range of responsibilities effectively, with a strong ability to understand the customer perspective and put it at the heart of Board decisions

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in aviation, transport, central government, a major regulator, or a major regulated organisation.
