We are the UK's aviation regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field. Our activities are diverse, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards, and we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.

The CAA believes in following the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. This approach applies not only to our colleagues but also any organisation or individuals who apply to work for, meet, deal with or supply the CAA. We want to reflect and represent the society and consumers on whose behalf we regulate.

We have updated our D&I strategy and are about to launch it.  Our new strategy focuses on 5 priorities that support the strategic aims of our wider CAA strategy. It will help us to achieve our vision of striving to be a diverse, innovative and future-focused regulator, dedicated to enabling thriving aviation and aerospace sectors.

The Role

This role will be responsible for implementing actions derived from our D&I Strategy, whilst engaging with and facilitating other key stakeholders to deliver their actions, ultimately ensuring the changes we wish to see are achieved.

Your time will also be spent helping managers and leadership teams, through their People Partners, to understand D&I and to display inclusive leadership.

You will use your own experiences and knowledge to provide subject matter expertise to a variety of internal stakeholders, including our managers, our HR team, our D&I Board and our D&I Network.

Understanding our D&I metrics will be an important aspect of the role, tracking and monitoring our performance and whether actions are creating the positive impacts we want to see.

About you

  • The ability to manage the delivery and implementation of our D&I Plan is a key.
  • The successful candidate will display strong influencing skills, needing to work with and educate managers at all levels of the organisation. This will need to be combined with the ability to approach sensitive subjects with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • You will be a “thought leader”, with a close awareness of the voice of our colleagues along with an extensive knowledge of how other external organisations are approaching D&I and best practice.

The post holder will have the following skills:

  • Strong knowledge of D&I programmes and initiatives
  • The ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within an organisation
  • Generalist knowledge of HR and the range of activities in the employee lifecycle
  • Ability to analyse complex data and to present findings
  • Innovative and practical approach to creative solutions
  • Ability to recognise boundaries of own expertise to act in an empowered way but seek support when appropriate
  • Experience in project management would be a benefit, but not essential
