The Role

 

As part of our mandate to ensure that the UK aviation industry is as safe as possible, we must conduct inspections of those operating within it. We must also ensure we develop appropriate policy to keep pace with technical developments, and procedures to ensure the level of safety required is maintained.

 

We are therefore looking for an individual with experience in powered lift operations to join the CAA Flight Operations Department in a part Flight Operations Inspector role, and part Flight Operations Policy role.

 

The Flight Operations Inspector role will focus on how public transport and police operators understand, implement, and comply with relevant legislation. To this end, we are looking for an experienced flight operations professional to act as an inspector and carry out audits on the operators.

 

Your internal training for the role will qualify you to carry out the core activities of the Flight Operations Inspector which requires a level of senior executive contact and influence across the full spectrum of the industry. This enables you to conduct regulatory activity with AOC holders where your experience will help to ensure they operate to the highest standards of safety and compliance.

 

The Flight Operations eVTOL policy role will focus on external policy and future rule making, and the development of internal CAA oversight procedures to ensure this growing market has sufficient regulatory oversight.

About You

 

The following are essential pre-requisites for applicants:

  • Possession of a UK ATPL
  • Relevant Industry experience as aircraft commander
  • Experience in powered lift operations
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, with an ability to influence and command respect at all levels

 

The following are desirable

  • Background in eVTOL development
  • Previous experience in policy or rule making processes
  • Experience in a managerial position in a commercial air transport operator/ Approved Training Organisation

Additional Information

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.
