The Role

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in providing interpretation of design, strategy, and input into the delivery of strategic projects for the CAA IT infrastructure. You’ll be working alongside the Technical Development Manager and wider project and infrastructure teams providing the CAA with technical direction, ensuring that any proposed changes meet the overall business requirements without placing the business at risk. 

 

The CAA is continuing to raise its own cyber security standards and these roles will play a key role, working with our security experts, in ensuring all our infrastructure remains at a high standard

 

You will be key in providing input into the optimisation of infrastructure system management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Act as technical resource for assigned Infrastructure projects in conjunction with the CAA Project Manager and assist with implementation according to technical design
  • Support of infrastructure components to ensure they take account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices and that existing solutions remain fully available
  • Participates in the identification of, and assessment of, new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies, methods & techniques
  • Development of service requirements and transition planning in conjunction with the Technical Development Manager and Service Transition & Quality Lead
  • Provide down-stream operational knowledge transfer to internal and external support teams
  • Plan and maintain all aspects of the infrastructure and network to ensure the services which underpin business requirements are fit for purpose
  • Implement change and service requests adhering to change management procedures and security principals
  • To act as 3rd line escalation point for Service Desk, Deskside and Operations Support functions
  • Pro-actively Monitor capacity\availability and performance of all Infrastructure platforms to ensure availability and to maintain SLAs
  • Provide regular updates on emerging technologies and improve awareness among ISD staff and other stakeholders, Inc. Infrastructure roadmaps

 

About You

 

We are keen to hear from individuals who have specialist knowledge of infrastructure development lifecycles in a complex environment. Relevant technical knowledge and experience in designing and implementing cloud based technologies such as Microsoft Azure environments, Office 365 services, also including: Networking (LAN, WAN), Network Operating Systems (Windows, Linux) and server and application virtualisation (Citrix, Microsoft), Storage and Security. 

 

Experience working to technical security standards and handling official sensitive data is essential and ideally, you’ll be familiar with project delivery within a Prince 2 environment, knowledge of Agile and Waterfall approaches would be beneficial
