Portfolio Delivery (PD) plays a critical role, it's the function which scopes and delivers improvement projects, interacting with almost all the departments across the business. We currently have a number of projects in the pipeline with a focus on continual improvement so it's a fantastic time to join us.


The Role


We are looking for a great Senior Project Manager to join the team to support our ever-growing portfolio of work. You'll be responsible for project initiation including definition of scope, creation of plan and set-up of the required governance and controls. It's your role to lead project delivery across the lifecycle including IT, Regulatory and Business Change initiatives supported by our PMO function. You will have a team of direct reports that you will motivate, mentor and develop along the journey.


Other key responsibilities:


  • Stakeholder Management – internal and external stakeholder management at an Executive level, acting as the CAA focal point for senior Government officials, CAA Executive Committee and the CAA Board.
  • Lead complex or difficult procurement, potentially with multiple suppliers.
  • Delivery to agreed time, cost and quality measures.
  • Risk, Issue and Dependency Management.
  • Benefits identification, ensuring there is focus on business outcomes.
  • Project governance and reporting to stakeholders at Director level.
  • Financial management of budget.
  • Providing coaching/mentoring to less experienced staff and taking responsibility for personal continued professional development.
  • Working with the Head of Projects & Programmes to continuously improve the way projects are delivered at the CAA.
  • Support the Head of Projects and Programmes in shaping the future of the CAA portfolio of projects in line with the CAA Strategy.


About You

You will have a hands-on role which will rely on you having excellent communications skills to enable effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders up to Director Level.


Experienced in handling IT and business focused projects throughout the whole lifecycle including new technology.


We'd like you to have experience in both Waterfall and Agile project methodologies, ideally coupled with a formal PM qualification such as Prince 2 and/or APM.


Some procurement experience is highly desirable, so that, if required, you can work with our internal Procurement department and participate fully in the end to end procurement activities, including taking ownership of supplier relationships in some cases.


Strong people management experience and see yourself as a leader, relishing in developing your team.
