The Role
As the Airspace Modernisation Project Delivery Specialist, you will be play a key role in coordinating the successful delivery of a number of key high-profile projects within the Airspace Modernisation Delivery Team. You will work closely with stakeholders from across the organisation to bring delivery focus and project management discipline. This includes providing effective planning, project governance, risk, issue and dependency management, whilst also working within the organisation’s standard governance and processes.
This is a hands-on position which will rely on the role holder having excellent communications skills to enable effective and regular engagement with stakeholders.
Core Accountabilities
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
- Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Arrange and lead major project milestone meetings
- Ensure resource availability and allocation
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Report and escalate to management as needed
- Manage the relationship with internal teams and external aviation stakeholders
- Work with teams to perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Manage project budget to ensure sufficient funding across the entire project period
About You
Essential
- Planning skills and ability to create and manage project plans
- Experienced and capable in managing relationships with stakeholders up to Senior Manager level both internally and externally
- Good leadership, management and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
- A team player with a can-do attitude, focused on results and delivery
- Strong enough to stand ground on key decisions, and willing and able to positively challenge stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure with good problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Experience of working in change programmes and project portfolio environments
- Knowledge and understanding of the Aviation Industry and business of the CAA and the environment in which it operates
- Some procurement experience
- Formal Project Management qualifications such as Prince 2, APM or Agile
Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.
We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.
We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
