We are the UK's aviation and aerospace regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field. Our activities are diverse, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards, and we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.

The Role

The Airspace Regulation (AR) team sits within the Airspace, Air Traffic Management and Aerodromes (AAA) capability team and is responsible for the management and processing of Airspace Change Proposals (ACP) within expected timeframes.

As an Airspace Regulation Project Specialist, you will support the delivery of projects and programmes that contribute to the UK Airspace Modernisation Strategy and wider airspace regulatory priorities. This includes supporting the development and implementation of airspace changes, national infrastructure projects, emerging aviation technologies, and continuous improvement activities across the Airspace Regulation function.

You will work closely with Airspace Regulators, Project Delivery Leads, policy specialists and industry stakeholders to coordinate project activities, maintain governance and reporting arrangements, monitor delivery against key milestones, and support the development of project documentation and evidence.

The role will involve supporting multiple projects simultaneously and acting as a central point of coordination between project teams, stakeholders and specialist advisors. You will help ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed plans, governance requirements and regulatory expectations.

You will also support improvements to the Airspace Regulation team's systems, processes and digital tools, contributing to the continuous improvement of services delivered to industry and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of Airspace Regulation projects and programmes.
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, issue logs and action trackers.
  • Prepare project reports, briefings, dashboards and governance materials.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Monitor project progress and escalate risks, issues or dependencies where appropriate.
  • Support the development and implementation of new processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Assist with the management of project governance and assurance activities.
  • Coordinate inputs from technical specialists, policy teams and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain project records and ensure documentation is complete, accurate and auditable.
  • Support the delivery of improvements to Airspace Regulation systems and digital services.
  • Contribute to the development of business cases, regulatory submissions and project documentation.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, industry stakeholders and government partners.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting projects or programmes in a structured environment and be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders and competing priorities. You will be organised, proactive and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will enjoy working collaboratively and have an interest in aviation, regulation, infrastructure, public policy or technology enabled change.

Essential

  • Experience supporting projects, programmes or business change activities.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation, plans, risks, issues and actions.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret information and present it clearly and accurately.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high quality outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a regulatory, public sector or aviation environment.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile or APM.
  • Understanding of the UK aviation sector.
  • Awareness of the UK Airspace Change Process and Airspace Modernisation Strategy.
