The Role

 

We are seeking a dynamic Platform Delivery Team Leader who excels in people management and is dedicated to executing the Infrastructure Roadmap.  This pivotal role involves leading a talented team of infrastructure professional, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment and ensuring the successful delivery of key infrastructure projects.

 

Core Accountabilities

 

Team Leadership

 

  • Manage and mentor a team of infrastructure specialists, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.  Foster collaboration, accountability and innovation within the team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and one-to-one meetings with team members to provide guidance, address concerns, and support professional growth.
  • Facilitate team stand-ups, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
  • Develop performance development plans for team members.

 

Infrastructure Roadmap Management

 

  • Oversee the planning and delivery of infrastructure in alignment with strategic roadmaps.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the infrastructure roadmap to align with the CAA’s business objectives and technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and adjust the roadmap as needed.
  • Play an active role in assuring that new systems are developed and implemented with appropriate support.

 

Reporting, Sprint Planning and Resource Scheduling

 

  • Implement performance reporting metrics and KPIs to track the progress and success of infrastructure deliveries.  Optimise the allocation of resources, to ensure efficient infrastructure delivery. Identify and address any resource gaps or constraints.
  • Coordinate and manage sprint planning sessions; using Azure DevOps Boards to plan, track, and manage work items.
  • Create user stories, tasks, and epics within the Agile process.
  • Assign work, track status, and collaborate with project contributors.
  • Optimise resource allocation and scheduling to maximise efficiency and meet project deadlines.  Addressing resource constraints and bottlenecks proactively.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on project progress, resource utilisation and key performance indicators for stakeholders.

 

About You

 

To be considered for the role – you must have:
 

Essential

 

  • Proficiency in both on-premise infrastructure management and cloud services (particularly Azure).
  • Relevant knowledge for managing key enterprise technologies deployed within the CAA environment, specifically:  Networking (LAN, WAN, DHCP, DNS), Cisco/HP switches, Network Operating Systems (Windows 2008 - 2022, Linux) Server (VMWare ESXi 6.7/7.x), NetApp Storage, Security (Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Secure Access), Microsoft O365\Azure (including Teams, Defender/Security Center), Mail Services (Exchange 2016/O365), End-Point Management (SCCM) Application Virtualisation (Citrix)
  • Good understanding of IT project lifecycles and best practices.
  • Provide (occasional) on-call assistance out of hours.

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience of supplier and vendor management
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and deployment automation.
  • Formal ITIL accreditations to Foundation level.

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

 

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.

Relocation & Property
 

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.

 

We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.

 

We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
