The Role

 

The role holder will support the Manager Stakeholder Engagement & Comms in delivering the Safety & Airspace Regulation Group (SARG) stakeholder plan, maintaining stakeholder relationships and delivering stakeholder feedback activity.  

 

They will work collaboratively across SARG with focal points in individual teams as well as alongside the Communications Department to ensure effective, consistent and proactive stakeholder engagement is delivered across the business, whether directly to a stakeholder, or through our network of programmes, publications or promotion work. They will also play a critical part in collating and demonstrating evidence of our ICAO Critical Element 5 (CE5) compliance and ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management Accreditation.

 

The role holder will provide support for the SARG Manager Stakeholder Engagement & Comms, and FSI Manager Stakeholder Engagement & Comms, deputising on industry escalation issues when required.

 

Core Accountabilities

 

  • Support SARG Stakeholder Engagement & Comms Team with the planning and delivery of stakeholder engagement workstreams such as SARG’s ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management Accreditation and the CAA’s demonstration of ICAO CE5 compliance
  • Coordinate cross-SARG safety and industry related programmes with policy, sector, delivery and comms teams to ensure all external messaging is joined up and delivered in accordance with the ‘one CAA’ methodology
  • Assist Manager Stakeholder Engagement & Comms in building positive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating confident communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Take ownership of tasks and deliver results as required by the Stakeholder Engagement Manager. Respond to queries, feedback and complaints to the satisfaction of both external and internal stakeholders and within a timely manner.
  • Produce and deliver stakeholder/comms engagement material such as emails, safety related guidance, ICAO CE5 demonstrative evidence as required
  • Attend internal and external meetings as and when required on behalf of the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement & Comms
  • Attend and support key stakeholder and industry events both in the UK and overseas
  • Act as an ambassador for SARG and the CAA.

 

About You

 

To be considered for the role you will need to be:

 

  • Educated to A level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of the aviation sector, whether UAS, GA or consumer would be advantageous
  • Experience of managing and coordinating stakeholder engagement and communications with a large number and variety of stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the CAA’s safety regulatory and corporate role and responsibilities.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including government departments and an understanding of how to address different stakeholders’ needs.
  • Strong relationship management skills including the ability to build trust and coordinate effectively across multiple teams, internal and external to the CAA.
  • Ability to engage and influence when dealing with stakeholders internally and within Industry at all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to work effectively in both a team and autonomously to ensure effective workstream delivery.
  • Ability to lead by example, while developing the necessary competencies and behaviours within the CAA.
  • Ability to persuade others to modify thinking and processes.
  • Experience in writing engagement material and news bulletins for different audiences is desirable
  • Ability to take the initiative, to be self-reliant as well as able to identify when to refer to others.
  • Familiarity with IT packages used in CAA is desirable.

 

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

Relocation & Property
 

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.

 

We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.

 

We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
