The Role


The Aeromedical Oversight Clinical Auditor role will provide clinical and technical support in the Medical Department. You will be assisting in the regulatory oversight of approved organisations (aeromedical clinics) and individuals (aeromedical examiners).


The role requires a good knowledge of medicine with the ability to work effectively under pressure with a high degree of stakeholder and public contact.


About You

  • You will have experience as a nurse practitioner, or other relevant medical clinical skills and experience to understand the regulatory implications of medical conditions.
  • You will have experience of undertaking audits.
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You will have a clear understanding of medical confidentiality, the Data Protection Act and GDPR, and of relevant IT packages.



  • Knowledge of aviation medicine.
  • Experience of working in an aviation medicine role.
  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience of audit of medical data and clinical investigations.


Additional Information

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.


To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. This can either be 3 years or 5 years depending on the level required (CTC or SC). If you do not meet these requirements, we may not be able to accept your application. The role requires regular attendance in the office at Aviation House at Gatwick and participation in on-site clinical audits. The CAA currently allows hybrid working (office and remote) during Covid-19.
