The Role

 

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Corporate Services, this role is for an experienced Head of Workplace Services who is responsible for oversight and delivery of the operational facilities function and who can deliver a transformed, shared, sustainable, safe and value for money property portfolio.

 

The role will be responsible for developing collaborative relationships at the most senior level, influencing multiple stakeholders, and translating property strategic objectives into practical client focused solutions.  With direct experience of property asset management and operational workplace services, the role is responsible for creating and managing effective governance controls in a complex business environment, set strategic direction that optimizes and enhances CAA’s property portfolio, thus creating an environment where colleagues feel valued and proud to work in a professional and modern way, provided in the overall context of a safe and sustainable workplace.

 

Leading a small Workplace Services team, the successful candidate  will be responsible for the overall operational management of the Workplace Services team, lead improvements in sustainable building management and drive forward the strategic direction of the property strategy.

 

This role requires 2-3 days office presence across the organisation.

 

Core Accountabilities

 

  • Influential leader for the operational Workplace Services (“Estates”) and environmental teams (“workplace services”) and its key strategic stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and operational guidance of workplace services across the CAA’s entire property portfolio.  Responsible for ensuring delivery of high standards of workplace experience, facilities and services to our colleagues, our business, and its clients.
  • Work closely with CAA’s Health, Safety and Security Team to ensure that CAA’s property portfolio remains safe and compliant for its daily operation.  Act as focal point of contact for escalations in relation to any health, safety or security incidents.
  • Provide strategic guidance and operational delivery oversight in delivering CAA’s property strategy plan that achieves the long-term vision of CAA’s Board and Directors.   Attendance to CAA Board and Senior Leadership Team meetings may be required.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and operational guidance for Net Zero Delivery and environmental performance of all CAA workspaces and properties to reduce its overall carbon footprint.
  • Provide sound commercial judgement that ensures focus on value for money and efficiency in workplace services operation, including financial accountability for budgets, capital and project planning.
  • Ensure the Workplace Services team is appropriately resourced to deliver both strategic change and business as usual.

 

About You

 

Essential

 

  • Ability to operate successfully across strategic, tactical and operational levels to optimise the in-office experience and environmental performance.
  • Experience of driving and embedding a property portfolio transformation.
  • Proven track record of leading workplace services function and team
  • Proven track record of delivering environmental initiatives in the workplace.
  • Strong analytic and decision-making skills
  • Financial management experience (budgets)

 

Desirable

 

  • Certified Member of Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) (previously BIFM) or similar professional body e.g., CIBSE.
  • Conflict resolution experience – handling complaints and working through resolution.
  • Customer service orientation with good communication skills across the business and with supply partners and their teams
  • Self-motivated and delivery focused.

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

 

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
