The Role


Working with the Head of Information and Data Management, the Data and Analytics Product Owner will be responsible for the prioritization and timely delivery of enhancements to the strategic, organisation wide, CAA Data and Analytics Product, enabling the vision of becoming a data driven regulator.


Underpinning this vision to become an organisation driven by data and analytics is a suite of technology that helps deliver this ability.


This role will be responsible for delivering the vision of providing consistent, accurate and timely data and analytics capabilities to all CAA functions. It will also be responsible for the management, delivery, ownership, and development of the technology suite, ensuring it is capable of delivering the varying needs of the whole business.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Line management of the data and business intelligence roles in the team responsible for working on and developing the technical platform
  • Matrix management of delivery teams made up of business and ISD representatives
  • Ownership of the data and analytics product roadmap aligned to the immediate and long-term business needs
  • Eliciting requirements and prioritising work to improve or utilise the CAA Data Platform
  • Ensuring the product team deliver on time and in accordance with an agreed product roadmap.
  • Growing the adoption and usage of the platform in all CAA functions
  • Developing and delivering the roadmap to transition existing systems and technology onto the new platform
  • Driving the delivery and vision that enables the CAA to truly become a regulator powered by data.


About You


We are looking for someone who can collaborate and influence at all levels with a strong understanding and experience of the use of data in business decisions, ideally with particular emphasis on aviation and/or regulation.


You will be knowledgeable of emerging technologies in the data and analytics field and have previous experience of leading a team of both business and technical specialists.


Previous experience of “selling a vision” to all levels of an organization will be desirable, this is an important factor as you will be communicating and selling the vision to CAA ExCo


You will be comfortable explaining complex concepts to all levels across the organization whilst having experience working with technical experts and being the conduit to non-technical teams
