Base Location: Gatwick – however remote working is available with 1 visit per month to the Gatwick Office

The Role

 

The CAA are looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our PMO Team. Your day-to day activities will include:

 

  • Leveraging project management experience to collaborate on developing Enterprise PMO standards and best practices
  • Design and facilitate workshops and Project/programme level ways of working aligned to CAA framework, RAID, change control, quality management and health checks processes and tools.
  • Lead initial development, ongoing maintenance and quality assurance of high level and detailed plans for programmes or multiple projects, providing or assuring provision of regular plan and milestone progress reports.
  • Evaluate project outcomes in terms of quality, consistency, accuracy, overall value, completion dates and performance against plan
  • Ensure that recording and maintaining a project database containing all related information, (data, artefacts, documents, reports, guides etc.) takes place
  • Maintain mechanisms to manage change control, risks and issues, benefits, dependencies and stage gate activities within specific projects
  • Provide valuable insight and new ideas that drive the continuous improvement in how the PMO operates and delivers value
  • Identifying and monitoring key performance indicators that highlight capacity / capability constraints and over commitment of resources for particular areas.
  • Liaising with project leads to ensure adherence to governance standards
  • Providing guidance and support to projects including the maintenance of project artifacts (e.g. PID/finance trackers/risk logs)
  • Maintaining and updating programme/project framework and associated process documents to ensure they adequately support CAA delivery methodologies
  • Triage and analysis of data, highlighting issues, trends and making recommendations
  • Support and facilitation of governance forums including the CAA’s project prioritisation processes

 

When working with colleagues you should seek to continuously improve relationships, develop your understanding of their challenges, and consult with each to seek out solutions. To this end, you will need to be comfortable driving, influencing, challenging, and negotiating with partners at all levels of business.

 

About You

 

  • Experience of line managing team of analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high-quality deliverables and professional development.
  • Proven experience within a similar role supported by a working knowledge of project and /or programme management methodologies (PRINCE2, APM, Agile etc.)
  • Familiarity with best practices in PMO structures and operating models and experience of contributing to the development and implementation of PMO policies, procedures, and governance frameworks, ensuring consistency and adherence to set standards.
  • Experience in prioritising projects and assessing project outputs against previously defined strategic goals.
  • Experience of Planning and reporting tools, including Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and PPM tools. Experience of creating and editing SharePoint sites an advantage.
  • Experience in overseeing and reporting progress of Portfolio’s and large-scale programs.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Good analytical and numerical skills with problem solving capability.
  • Proactive and able to work both as part of a team and stand alone.
  • Articulate and persuasive and able to provide commentary to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in reviewing and updating project documentation including Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), Business Cases, and project plans.

Additional Information

 

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
